Let Go and Let God

John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

These words of Jesus need to be taken as our assurance of His peace in your life. However, many struggle with that. We rarely have a life full of peace. We may have moments, but peace is far from constant. Knowing that can discourage us, make us wonder what we are doing wrong.

That is why Jesus qualified his statement: In this world, you will have trouble. Just because you face difficulties, sometimes daily, doesn’t mean you can’t have peace. It’s all about who you turn to when you have trouble, and what you do with your problems.

Breaking Point

Normally, we reach out when we are at our breaking point. When we’re reached the maximum of what we can handle and only then do we seek help. Often, God is our last resort. That is what we need to change. We need to make God our first resort. Not when we are breaking… although that is often where we start, but rather when we face a challenge. Any challenge, no matter how small or how big.

In such times, just say… “Lord I’m not strong enough to do this. Please help me. Guide me. Grant me wisdom. In Jesus name. Amen.”

That is all it takes. A few seconds to look from yourself up to God. So, try it today. When you face anything that seems daunting, or beyond what you feel you can handle, let go and let God!

Blessings,

Jana
